Latest News from the banks of Carp Quarry
At last we are open again for Carp fishing so we should have some catch reports soon . It has not been very cold this winter and the Carp have been feeding all year so I will continue to feed them with the Lake pellet and Boillies making these big Carp even bigger. We feel very confident that a few monster Carp will be landed in the second half of 2020 now restrictions have been lifted. At this moment in time the lake and banks are bursting into life, all the trees are in full leaf, the Swallows have arrived and are dipping the water , in the evening the Kingfishers are screeching and shooting round the lake. The bats and Owls are out at night to pay us a visit. The lake is a unbelievably peaceful and tranquil and looking awesome. I look forward to seeing you on the bank this year and next year so get yourself booked in for your Carp Fishing holiday in France with us at Carp Quarry. Tight lines.
Latest catches from the banks of Carpquarry August 2020
Here are just a few fish caught in August 2020 from Zak Mark and Jack top 4 photos and Steve and Scott lower 4 photos on there Carp fishing holiday in France with us at Carp Quarry.
Where the lake has been little fished the carp have moved of the normal spots and on to natural baits. Fishing with small amounts of pellet and crushed boilie does not seem to be working like it use too as the large Roach and Rudd are cleaning it up before the Carp have a chance to find the bait.
But fishing with a minimum of 1/2 Kg of whole boilies on top of your hook bait ( white pop ups are working ) which are to big for the Silver fish to eat seems to be nailing the Carp. There is a bit of algae at this moment in time but it is not affecting the fishing in any way. If any thing it may be making it a bit easier as the fishes vision is compromised.
At last carp fishing can start again here at Carpquarry. Due to the new UK 2 week quarantine rules we now have a couple of weeks up for grabs in the summer season which is in September 2020 week starting the 5th and 12th ( email me for details ) don’t hang about and get booked in while we have this spaces which have become available. Its all that’s left for this year before the winter season. Now here in France if you want to go into a shop you have to wear a mask so don’t forget to bring them with you.
Carp quarry is leading the way in looking after you and your pocket . If the British or French governments ban travel to our area in France because of the Corona virus we will refund any money you have paid as a deposit or for the main holiday. So you are 100% secure in booking your Carp fishing holiday in France with us.

Carpquarry is situated about 2 miles from the market town of Callac in Dept 22 in Brittany in a small beautiful village of Saint Servais. The village of St Servais is very quiet and picturesque dominated by the church in the village square with a small river running through the village past a couple of small lakes where there are lovely walks. The village has a bar that sells a few groceries or is nice just to get a coffee in or a cold beer and it is only a few hundred yards walk from the lake.
Callac the main town is about 5 mins drive , It has a couple of good supermarkets, butchers, newsagents, bakers, cake shop and many bars and restaurants. There is also a market on a Wednesday, or if you prefer you could just have a walk around its large lake.
Within ½ hour drive you have the larger towns of Carhaix with the Brest canal close by also the medieval walled city of Guingamp. Beffou forest is also within 30 min drive. The very pretty little city of Guerlesquin know as the small city of character with its own large lake and beach is not much further than Beffou forest.
Within ¾ hour drive you can be at the town of Huelgoat with its large lake and iceage revine, a must see. Or also in 45 mins you could be at the very pretty large coastal town of Morlaix and the other pink granite coastline and superb beaches of north Brittany. Or if you want shopping you can get to the large cosmopolitan city of St Brieuc within an hour.
We are situated right in the heart of Brittany so is an excellent base to explore the region.
What our guests say:
Jake & Ben April 2018
Hey Gordon, arrived home safe and well, trip home was alot faster as we was constantly talking about the place. we had a fantastic trip and the place was better then we could have expected. thank you for having us and we have the green light from the other half’s so we will sort out a date and get booked up when we have decided.
After we had spoke to you on the last evening, Ben managed another chunky mirror at 45.8 and just as i was about to reel my last rod in off she went and ended up with a 31.8.
Will get some pictures sorted and send them over asap. there is some real beauties in there and the photos we have hopefully will show everyone what the lake offers.
Best thing about it is we didn’t manage to catch the big girls we did see so that’s got us coming back.
And just to finish, Ben spotted a common with a group of big girls that made them look small.
Take care, Jake and Ben
Dutch guys Danny, Bart, Sjaak and Maikel:

Cheers, Tony.Taken from Wychwood’s Facebook page:
“As Gordon swung open the gate my mouth dropped, in front of me lay a truly stunning lake, big intimidating cliffs, crystal clear waters and some cracking Mirrors drifting over the shallow road way, I was in heaven “Sharon, can I get the rods out!” LOL
To sum up, I didn’t fish much, but I loved every second of it, for me it is my favourite French water, and I have visited a few, I saw some right hippos, the area is gorgeous, the lake is stunning, the cottage is picture perfect AND I WANT TO GO BACK! (Breath (-;)”
